Frequently Asked Questions

What cabinetry services can you provide me?

We provide custom cabinetry for residential, trade and commercial projects. Our confirmed services include custom cabinetry, kitchen cabinets, kitchen renovation cabinetry, bathroom vanities and cabinetry, laundry cabinetry, wardrobes and walk-in robes, garage storage, entertainment units, custom storage, commercial cabinetry and joinery, cabinet repairs and modifications, 3D design and drafting, CNC cabinet cutting, and installation for cabinetry supplied through our projects.

How much deposit will I need?

We require a 20% deposit of the quoted project price before materials are ordered and installation allocation is arranged for the job. The remaining payment arrangements are set out in the individual quotation or contract for your project. Because cabinetry projects vary in size, materials and scope, we do not apply an invented standard payment schedule beyond the confirmed 20% deposit.

How long will my cabinetry take?

Timing depends on the project. We generally aim to provide quotations within approximately 2–5 business days. After design approval and deposit, cabinetry production typically takes approximately 1–2 weeks, depending on project size, material availability and workload. Installation usually takes approximately 1–5 days depending on size and complexity. These are typical estimates rather than guaranteed completion dates, and renovation projects involving additional trades may require different overall scheduling.

Can you install the cabinetry you supply?

Yes. Installation can be included as part of cabinetry projects that we design, manage and supply. The cabinetry is delivered to the project site and installed as part of the agreed project scope. We do not offer installation-only services for cabinets purchased or supplied through unrelated companies, so installation should be discussed with us as part of your cabinetry project from the beginning.

Can I change my design before manufacturing?

Yes. You can request design changes while the cabinetry is still in the design and approval stage. We encourage customers to carefully review the layout, cabinet configuration, materials, colours, finishes, hardware and relevant appliance positions before production begins. Once manufacturing has started, requested changes may no longer be practical or may result in additional costs, so finalising important selections beforehand helps avoid unnecessary disruption.

Do you service areas outside Pakenham?

Yes. We are based in Pakenham and currently travel up to approximately 50 km for work. Our service area includes Pakenham and surrounding locations such as Officer, Beaconsfield, Nar Nar Goon, Berwick, Clyde, Clyde North, Cranbourne, Narre Warren, Drouin, Warragul and other eligible areas within our practical travel radius. If you are unsure whether your property falls within our current coverage, contact us with the project location.

Do you take small cabinetry jobs?

Yes. There is no confirmed minimum job value for cabinetry, cabinet repairs or modifications. We can consider smaller jobs as well as larger custom cabinetry projects. This may include practical repairs, cabinet alterations, hardware changes, additional storage or other eligible cabinetry work. The right solution depends on the condition of the existing cabinetry and what you need changed, so we assess each enquiry individually.

Do you work with homeowners, builders, and businesses?

Yes. We work with a broad range of customers, including homeowners, renovators, owner-builders, new-home clients, builders, developers, cabinetmakers, designers, property managers and commercial businesses. Our services can support complete custom cabinetry projects as well as specialist needs such as CNC cabinet cutting or standalone drafting. The scope is adapted to the type of project and the customer’s requirements.

How does your cabinetry process work from enquiry to completion?

We begin by discussing your project and arranging a site measurement where required. We then prepare a project-specific quotation and initial 3D concept for a full cabinetry project. After you review the layout, materials, finishes, hardware and other selections, changes can be made before approval. Once the design is approved and the 20% deposit is paid, production preparation and material ordering begin. The cabinetry then progresses through production, delivery, installation and a final inspection.

How do you calculate the price of my custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinetry is individually quoted because the cost depends on the design, scope, materials and specific project requirements. Cabinet size, configuration, selected finishes, hardware, storage accessories and other project choices can all affect the final quotation. We therefore do not publish fixed cabinetry prices that may be misleading for a particular space. A site measurement is included with genuine cabinetry quotations so the proposal can be based on the actual project.

What materials can I choose for my cabinetry?

Available cabinetry materials can include melamine, moisture-resistant board for relevant wet-area applications, plywood, laminated MDF, polyurethane or 2Pac painted cabinetry, natural timber and timber veneer on request. The right material depends on the location, design, budget, required finish and supplier availability. We help match material choices to the individual project rather than suggesting that every material is appropriate for every cabinetry application.

What finishes and hardware can I choose?

Depending on your project, options can include matte, satin, high-gloss, timber-look, woodgrain and textured finishes, fingerprint-resistant surfaces, painted doors, custom colours and neutral colour selections. Hardware and accessories may include soft-close hinges and drawers, push-to-open systems, handles, handleless profiles, lift-up overhead systems, pull-out pantry units, bin systems, corner storage, spice racks, cutlery trays, bottle pull-outs and optional cabinet lighting. Availability depends on the individual design and product selection.

Which cabinetry brands and suppliers do you use?

Depending on the design, budget, product requirements and customer preferences, we regularly work with products, materials or supplies associated with names such as Blum, Hettich, Häfele, Polytec, Laminex, Wilsonart, Lincoln Sentry, Nover and Hideaway Bins. Product selection is made according to the needs of each project. The use of these products should not be interpreted as an exclusive dealership or official partnership arrangement.

Can you build kitchen cabinets for renovations and new homes?

Yes. We provide made-to-measure kitchen cabinetry for both renovation and new-build projects. Kitchen work can include site measurement, 3D layouts, base and overhead cabinetry, pantry storage, doors, drawer fronts, internal storage solutions, soft-close options, handle or handleless designs, pull-out storage and other suitable accessories. Installation can also be completed as part of cabinetry supplied through our project.

Can you coordinate trades for my kitchen renovation?

Yes. Our main expertise within a kitchen renovation is cabinetry and joinery, but we can coordinate selected external specialist trades where required. Depending on the project, this may involve demolition, plumbing, electrical work, benchtop services, tiling or splashbacks, plastering, flooring, painting or appliance installation. We do not represent these specialist services as work personally performed by us, and customers may also choose to use their own preferred trades.

Can I use my own renovation trades?

Yes. If you already have preferred trades for parts of a kitchen, bathroom or related renovation, you can use them. We can focus on the cabinetry and joinery component and work within the agreed project arrangements. Where needed, selected external specialist services can also be coordinated around the cabinetry work. Discussing responsibilities early helps clarify which work we are managing and which work your own trades will complete.

Can you make custom bathroom vanities and cabinetry?

Yes. We provide made-to-measure bathroom vanities and storage cabinetry designed around the available space and project requirements. Bathroom cabinetry can include site measurement, 3D planning, drawer and storage configurations, finishes, hardware selection and installation. Moisture-resistant board options are available for relevant wet-area cabinetry where suitable. If a broader bathroom renovation requires specialist trades, selected additional services may be coordinated separately.

Can you design laundry cabinetry around my storage needs?

Yes. We can design made-to-measure laundry cabinetry around the room, available space and the items you need to store. Depending on the project, this can include base cabinets, overhead cabinets, tall storage, shelving, utility storage, custom layouts, hardware and accessories. Site measurement, 3D design and installation can also form part of the cabinetry project, helping create a more practical laundry layout.

Can you build wardrobes and custom storage for awkward spaces?

Yes. We provide built-in wardrobes, walk-in robes, custom wardrobe cabinetry and other made-to-measure storage solutions. Planning can consider the available dimensions, shelving, internal storage needs, custom layouts and suitable hardware or accessories. We can also design cabinetry for unusual spaces where standard storage products do not make effective use of the available area. A 3D layout can help you review the proposed arrangement before production.

Can you make garage, entertainment, and home office cabinetry?

Yes. Our custom storage work can include residential garage cabinets, shelving, entertainment units, TV feature walls, home office cabinetry, linen cupboards, pantry storage and other made-to-measure storage applications. Each project is planned according to the available space and intended use. Where electrical work is required around an entertainment unit or feature wall, that work would need to be handled or coordinated through an appropriate external trade.

Do you provide commercial cabinetry and joinery for businesses?

Yes. We provide commercial cabinetry and custom joinery for office and commercial fit-out applications. Depending on the project, this can include reception desks, workstations, office cabinetry, kitchenettes, storage cabinets, shelving, display units, retail counters, warehouse storage and other custom commercial joinery. We can work with businesses such as offices, retail premises, clinics, cafés, restaurants and other commercial customers, while our scope remains focused on cabinetry and joinery rather than structural construction.

Can you repair my cabinets instead of replacing them?

In many situations, yes. We provide cabinet repairs, modifications and upgrades, including door or drawer-front replacement, hinge and drawer-runner changes, shelf replacement, kickboard or end-panel replacement, damaged panel repairs, hardware upgrades and other suitable alterations. We assess the existing cabinetry and the requested change before recommending a solution. If the cabinetry is no longer practical to repair, replacement may be the more appropriate option.

Can you modify cabinets for appliances or extra storage?

Yes. Cabinet modifications can include alterations for new ovens, cooktops, rangehoods, dishwashers and refrigerators where the existing cabinetry can be suitably adapted. We can also add shelving, additional cabinet storage, pantry modifications, pull-out accessories and other practical upgrades. Because existing cabinetry differs considerably in construction and condition, we first need to understand what is already installed before confirming what can reasonably be modified.

Can you remove my existing cabinetry?

Removal and disposal of existing cabinetry can be included where it forms part of an eligible cabinetry project. This can be useful when replacing an existing kitchen or other cabinet installation and the removal work needs to be coordinated with the new cabinetry. Whether removal is included will depend on the agreed project scope, so it should be discussed during the quotation stage rather than assumed for every job.

Can I book CNC cabinet cutting separately?

Yes. CNC cabinet cutting is available as a standalone service rather than only as part of a complete cabinetry project. We offer CNC cutting for cabinet components and can also provide related 3D design or layout assistance where appropriate. Physical CNC cutting is currently completed through a third-party premises under our operating arrangement, so we do not describe the service as being performed on company-owned CNC machinery.

Who can use your CNC cutting service?

Our standalone CNC cabinet cutting service is available to cabinetmakers, builders and private homeowners. It can be useful for customers who require cabinet components cut for a project without purchasing a complete installed cabinetry package. We can also provide 3D design or layout support alongside CNC-related work where appropriate. Specific commercial requirements for an individual CNC job should be discussed with us before proceeding.

Can I get 3D drafting without buying cabinetry?

Yes. Standalone 3D cabinet design and drafting is available as a paid service for homeowners, builders, cabinetmakers, designers and renovators. This is separate from the initial 3D concept included within the quotation and design process for a full cabinetry project. Standalone drafting can be useful when you need a clearer cabinet layout or production information before deciding how the cabinetry will be supplied or produced.

What can standalone cabinet drafting provide me?

Depending on the project, standalone drafting can provide cabinet layouts, shop drawings and CNC-ready production files. The work can be developed around supplied project requirements, measurements and the intended cabinetry arrangement. Because drafting needs differ between homeowners, builders, designers and cabinetmakers, the exact deliverables should be agreed before the work starts so you understand what information will be prepared for your particular project.

What workmanship warranty will my cabinetry receive?

Eligible custom cabinetry supplied through us and installed as part of our projects carries a 12-month workmanship warranty. If a workmanship or installation issue arises within the applicable scope, we can inspect the cabinetry and carry out necessary adjustments or repairs where the issue is covered. The warranty applies to eligible cabinetry work and should not automatically be assumed to cover unrelated third-party products, specialist trades or separate services.

What happens if I find an installation issue?

Contact us and explain the issue so we can determine the appropriate next step. Where a problem relates to eligible workmanship or installation covered by our 12-month workmanship warranty, we can inspect the cabinetry and make necessary adjustments or repairs. We prefer issues to be assessed properly so the cause can be identified rather than assuming that every problem with cabinetry automatically falls within workmanship warranty coverage.

What is excluded from your workmanship warranty?

The confirmed workmanship warranty exclusions include misuse, accidental damage, water leaks, structural movement and normal wear and tear. The 12-month workmanship warranty applies to eligible custom cabinetry supplied through us and installed as part of our projects. It should not automatically be extended to external trades, third-party products, specialist suppliers, standalone CNC cutting, standalone drafting or repair and modification work unless separate coverage is specifically confirmed.

Do you hold insurance for cabinetry projects?

We hold Public Liability Insurance and Professional Indemnity Insurance. These are confirmed business insurance arrangements and provide customers with additional confidence that we approach cabinetry projects with appropriate professional safeguards. We do not make broader claims about insurance types, policy amounts or coverage that has not been specifically confirmed, so project-specific questions about insurance can be raised with us when relevant.

Who will manage my cabinetry project?

Our business is owner-operated, and cabinetry projects are managed with direct owner involvement from consultation through the project process. This provides customers with communication involving the person overseeing the cabinetry work rather than treating the project as a purely sales-led handover. We also work with installers, specialist suppliers and external trades where required. Cabinet-industry experience behind the business dates back to 2014, while Pakenham Cabinet Makers itself was established in 2026.

Can I ask for references before hiring you?

Yes. References from builders and private homeowners are available on request. If speaking with previous customers would help you make a more informed decision, you can ask us about available references during your enquiry. We do not rely on invented review numbers, ratings or unsupported project statistics, so any reference information provided should reflect genuine customer experience and appropriate permission.

Can I visit your Pakenham showroom or workshop?

We do not currently operate a customer-facing showroom, workshop or factory that is open for visits. Our supplied Pakenham address is not a customer consultation location. For genuine cabinetry enquiries, consultations and site measurements can instead be handled at the customer’s premises. This allows us to assess the actual space where the cabinetry is being planned and gather the measurements needed for the quotation process.

Do you undertake structural work during renovations?

No. Our core expertise is cabinetry and joinery, and we do not undertake structural building work. For cabinetry-led kitchen, bathroom or related renovations, we can coordinate selected external specialist trades where required, but we do not represent plumbing, electrical, tiling, structural construction or similar specialist work as services personally performed by us. This distinction helps keep responsibilities clear throughout the renovation.

What happens during delivery and installation?

Once the approved cabinetry has progressed through production, it is delivered to the project site and installed as part of our cabinetry project. Installation timing depends on the project size and complexity, with typical installation taking approximately 1–5 days. After installation, we carry out a final inspection or quality check at completion. Any applicable workmanship warranty then provides support for eligible workmanship or installation issues within its confirmed scope.

How do I start my cabinetry project?

Start by contacting us and telling us what you are planning, where the project is located and what type of cabinetry you need. We can discuss the requirements and, for a genuine cabinetry quotation, arrange the site measurement at no charge. From there, we can prepare the project-specific quotation and initial 3D concept so you can review the proposed cabinetry before deciding whether to proceed.
